Project Status

Oh, before I begin: SIP 0.4.1 has been out for a while. Basically a bugfix release compared to 0.4.0. About project activity: Well, I'm at the end of my PhD, and have code to release for http://vxl.sf.net soon. I'll keep the effort to support SIP for Linux from our source package. I'll try to get a job that helps boost SIP to the next level. No guarantees, but it's in my mind! Happy end of year!

SIP 0.4.0 (final) released

This new major version works for Scilab 5.1, and brings new functions such as a new fast Euclidean distance map algorithm, phase unwrapping, and more. Many other bugfixes and minor improvements were added, and recent versions of ImageMagick are now supported.

Currently only a source code release is available, which readily
installs under Linux. An experimental windows version is available
only for Scilab 4 at this point. If you wish to contribute with a
windows port, you will be greatly praised by the community. SIP has
over 60 downloads/day and about 2000 page views/day! The demand for a
windows port is huge.... read more

SIP and Scilab 5.1

We are working on getting SIP to compile with the new Scilab 5.1. In the process, we will be trying to merge SIVP back in. You can already try the CVS version and report any bugs.

CVS being actively developed

We have been actively fixing bugs in the CVS version of SIP (and its supporting library Animal). Priority is given to Linux and other Unix. Please test our CVS version and let us know of any bugs.

Status of SIP Development

Developer Ricardo Fabbri, who had to interrupt his activities with SIP due to his PhD load, might restart working on SIP in the next month. He already began to provide support to SIP by answering to some bug reports.

CVS version

SIP is now developed under CVS, thanks to our new developer Angus Errington. It is now much easier to contribute to SIP. More information at:

Developers needed

We are in need of an new active developer/administrator for SIP. If you are interested please sign up to the developers mailing list and present yourself. I am not leaving SIP development, but will help manage it and participate.

Unfortunately, since I moved to the USA I could not find any time to significantly work on SIP. The main reason is that I have not been using Scilab for my own research, so there is no way I could spare time for it. I like my new research group very much, but they don't rely on Scilab as much as my old group. So it is a very slow process to get them to know it and eventually use it.... read more

Moved to USA

After months without sign of life, I am glad to inform you that I have successfully moved to Brown University, USA, for my PhD. Hopely we will soon get back to SIP-ping :^) Ricardo.

New Scilab Image Processing Toolbox - devel released

In this release, there are new functions to convert RGB to/from HSV images and colormaps. The Radon transform is now available. We also fixed C functions with respect of truecolor images, by using Scilab's new hypermatrix structure. Therefore this version now works with Scilab 3.0. There are many other changes, making this a strong candidate for the next SIP stable version. Download the new version at http://siptoolbox.sf.net/devel... read more

Scilab 3.0 released

The new version is available at www.scilab.org Please wait until the new SIP 0.4.0 is released, which will be in a few days. The old SIP 0.3.1 binary version will NOT work with the new Scilab. However, any user may still compile the development version, which should work fine. Grab it at http://siptoolbox.sf.net/devel
