#383 Setting up latest Simple Groupware fails with PHP error or internal server error

Used Webbrowser Version: SeaMonkey 2.14, Opera 11.52
My role: User (Admin)

Setting up Simple Groupware locally via XAMPP 1.7.2 was easy but as I tried the same process via my web hosted /sg I got the message:

"Error: Please modify your php.ini or add an .htaccess file changing the setting 'safe_mode' to '0' (current value is '1') !"

After putting a .htaccess with "php_value safe_mode 0" in my web hosted /sg I got the message:

"Internal Server Error: The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

The web hoster is telling me:
- safe_mode is deprecated
- changing PHP settings via .htaccess is not available
- using an own php.ini is not available

How can I set up Simple Groupware under these conditions?
