The Shell Pepper library is an add-on library for the Unix shell that adds socket handling, file descriptor passing, and other capabilities to the shell.

It is presently in the early stages of development: the fd passing functionality is in place and will serve as the foundation for other functionality to be added in the future. Presently Bash, ksh, and zsh are supported.
