When creating a "gray-scale" image using the 6 first colors from the XPaint palette (different shades of "gray") and saving the image as PNG the colors will be incorrect.

(I saw this problem in an image using only 5 gray scales.)

(Workaround:) Saving the image as BMP or XPM in xpaint and converting the file to PNG using the ImageMagick command line tools will create a PNG file with correct colors.

This shows that this problem is only related to the PNG format and not a general XPaint problem.

Version used: XPaint 2.9.1

If it is necessary to reproduce the error: I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS (x86-64)

Sorry for the very late response. You are using an obsolete version. This problem probably has disappeared with more recent versions since a long time.
