#704 All 7-zip encrypted archives will not open by double-tapping archive name

No

Suddenly 7-Zip encrypted archives will not open with the password banner. Instead, an error message appears (see attached JPG).

I can still open 7-Zip and navigate to the archive. Double-tapping the archive reveals the password banner. The password banner opens normally once the proper password is entered.

Updating7-Zip makes no difference.

I found another topic from 2024 that appears to be very close to my current experience.

See "Double Click doesn't open an encrypted 7-Zip archive" including my own post I just added

In other words, you’ve already read Igor’s reply to your question :-)
So either rebind the *.7z file association to 7z-FM, or go blame Windows support for hijacking the opening of 7z archives with their substandard code, which doesn’t support encrypted archives.
