I have added mnemonics, a.k.a hotkeys, underscored letters and &'s, to the resource file specifying the context menu, which for me and many others is the difference between useful and rather useless.
I have taken special care to make intuitive hotkeys that do not collide with the system defaults when not using a submenu. The most common operations have been especially considered and have been made as similar as other archive tools, mostly WinZip, as possible.
The file is based on the 7z920 source and goes into:
CPP\7zip\UI\Explorer\
Context Menu Mnemonics
Is there anything holding back acceptance of this? It's hard to think of something more worthwhile cost/benefit-wise than kb accelerators.
This seems like mostly a good idea to me too.
I use 7-zip with the option for "Cascaded context menu" enabled anyway so it is less of a problem. In most cases it is easy enough since just hitting the first letter of the menu item label will already jump to that item and there are not too many items with the similar names, but I do still have 3 different items all starting with the word "Extract" it would be useful to have mnemonics for those in any case.
I can see how people might want different mnemonics than the ones you've chosen but I wont argue because I'd prefer to have a few more mnemonics.
