"Could you explain why should we bother about the compression format of a SFX archive, since it extracts itself?"

With WinRAR you can create RAR SFX files and (!) ZIP SFX files. (Two SFX formats.)
Why should it unable to create with 7-Zip also ZIP SFX files? (Until now 7-Zip can only create 7z SFX files!)

This does not answer my question. I am saying that an sfx is something with .exe as extension. As such it just extracts itself, regardless the format of the stored data. What do we gain specifically with a zip sfx? Or is it just for tha sake of it?
In my view it is specificallly preferable to use 7-zip sfx, since they tend to be smaller while everybody and his cat can open a zip archive making the sfx module an essentially dead weight.
Saying that "it is possible so why it is not done?" is no argument, I'd like to be convinced by you, but with a somewhat better reason.

see the information for "ArcConvert 0.49.6b" on http://archivconvert.sourceforge.net/ :

That means:
It could be possible to add the support (unpacking) of InnoSetups (with using DPInfo95.dll)!
(Would be nice if 7-Zip supports extracting of some kinds of installation files!!!)
