    Blue Ninja - 2006-01-27

I apologize if this was already answered, but a fairly quick search didn't turn anything up.

Using 7-Zip, I've had no problems opening WinZip and other types of archives. However, it seems that nobody I send a 7-Zip archive to can unzip it with WinWip. It was my understanding (and perhaps MISunderstanding) that 7-Zip was compatible with WinZip. I'd hoped to completely remove WinZip from my system and replace it with 7-Zip, but obviously this won't work if many other people can't read my archives.

So, is there something I'm doing wrong or a setting I need to change, or am I just out of luck?

    Thanks...

WinRAR is better than WinZip and it can open 7-zip files.

WinZIP is a CRAP. You can and should kick it out now.

      WinZIP can't extract 7-ZIP archives.

But you can create PKZIP 2.x compatible ZIP archives
with 7-ZIP prog: make sure to set:

      ZIP, Deflate (NOT Deflate64).

This will create most compatible archives, extactable
by ALL ZIP and UNZIP progs, like PKUNZIP 2.x,
      and even WinZIP.

WinFuck ... WinCrap ... ''Win'' in fact means rather
LOOSE when referring to software / malware

You said: ''Win'' in fact means rather LOOSE when referring to software / malware.

Then why 7-zip choose Windows as the only platform? Win actually mean software build for Windows OS. Then you should suggest 7-zip to be develop only for Linux/Unix and never for Windows OS.

p7zip is not official handled by Igor.
