I also have this problem, and from what I recall it happened
in earlier versions of Directory Opus. A workaround is to
drag & drop the file to the desktop, then drag it to where
you want it in Directory Opus.

I can confirm this bug too. I did some fiddling with Filemon to see if this was caused by mixup of long path names for the temporary files. Apparently, that's not it.
What I could see is that 7-Z extracts the temp file but deletes it before Dopus has a chance to copy it to the target directory. The error dialog is actually thrown by Dopus itself.

I can confirm this bug with 7-zip 4.55 on Windows 2000 and XP: drag-and-drop from an archive (ZIP or TAR.BZ2) to Notepad or WinSCP gives an error that the temporary file does not exist. Curiously enough, there is no problem with some applications, like when a file is dragged to Windows Explorer or SciTE. I guess this is the same bug as 1412051.

I wonder if this is related to bug [ 1412051 ] Drag&Drop

To answer my own question, that bug is specifically for
tar.gz files. This one is for any archive.
