I saw other posts, about split rar archives, but most
pertained to the archives being mis-named (001 etc.)
or to being made with older versions of RAR
I recently created a rar archive myself, with winrar 3.4
the nameings scheme used by default, by official winrar
3.4 is
'(filename).partx.rar"
so you end up with, for example
test.part1.rar
test.part2.rar
etc.
trying to extract with 7-zip shell menue, it extracts
only the first archive ( and hten gives an error)
when using the 7-zip shell, and the "combine" command,
it reports that it cannot detect the archive as part of
a split file
as a further note I want to be explicitly clear, that
i'm using a retail bought & paid for copy of winRAr,
not a downloaded, trial, or pirated version , this is
the official naming scheme

This is a sorely needed feature, why is multipart rar not
supported when rar is in the supported list?
Can somebody give an ETA on when this will be supported so
in the meantime I can look elsewhere for support?
Interestingly, if extraction is started on a whole archive, part 1, then 7zip proceeds to extract all the parts. But if I open the part 1 in 7zip, and try to extract a file that spans multiple parts, 7zip extracts only the first part, and says the file is corrupted. The same happens if I start extraction from any other part, 7zip does not proceed to the following parts.
