I don't understand this Linux obsession with opening a zillion of windows. I am also in favor of a single window for seq24, but I think the "Linux obsession with opening a zillion of windows" is very easy to explain: The windows-in-windows thing only happened as a work-around for old Windows (and MacOS?) lack of good workspaces support, so there was no good (default) way for users to keep related windows together. Linux (and OSX) never needed that because of (more or less) good built-in workspaces support. But, yeah, I very much prefer to have an application like renoise or emacs or blender that can combine all of its user interface in a single window, WITHOUT having little windows inside of that window. It is just distracting to have stuff appearing in little dialog windows or document windows all over your screen(s). -- /Pelle |
