In my project file, I have every external dependency in a "3rdparty" directory next to the seq24 directory... obviously not everyone will do this (unless using my toolchain tarball)... but how to accommodate everyone, I'm not sure. maybe dictate how they install the gtk/gtkmm and other assorted libs... i.e. do a private install local next to the seq24 dir.
