Ahso. Somehow I could paint notes in patch edit mode, but when I switched to
song mode I couldn't get it to work. Now it does. I think I had the
right->left click procedure reversed (I thought I was seeing some weirdness
in the window manager or something).

Just getting started with this, but I've been looking forward to "playing"
with this tool for quite some time now.
