[seq24-users] Compiling 0.6.2 on Debian Sarge...

I unpack the source, I run ./configure and I get...

...
checking for ALSA CFLAGS...
checking for ALSA LDFLAGS...  -lasound -lm -ldl -lpthread
checking for libasound headers version >= 0.9.0... not present.
configure: error: Sufficiently new version of libasound not found.

...but...

Any advice would be appreciated.
