Hey SMW devs, I'd like to release Semantic Result Formats 5 in a few days. If you contributed, please ensure relevant changes are included in the release notes at https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticResultFormats/blob/master/RELEASE-NOTES.md . Relevant changes are those that interest extension users who want to know what changed, so compat fixes already covered by the Compatibility Changes section and code cleanup should be omitted. Dear SMW users, developers and enthusiast, the next major release of SMW (5.0.0) is on the horizon! This is made possible by great community contributions and the continuous efforts of sour sponsor (see below). However, we are running low on funds currently, so I would invite everybody to try to donate to the SMW development via OpenCollective: https://opencollective.com/smw You will receive an immediate receipt for your donation that you can use for your tax authority or accounting. In case your company rules do not allow you to give donations, but only direct contracts, all of SMWs sponsors are happy to provide development resources for individual contracts. Of course, you are also always welcome to donate time and support our activities on GitHub: https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki Best, Bernhard Check out our sponsors: Gold: KM-A https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Sponsorship/KM-A Silver: ArchiXL https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Sponsorship/ArchiXL Silver: GesinnIT https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Sponsorship/gesinn.it Bronze: Professioinal Wiki https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Sponsorship/Professional_Wiki |

Dear List, I recently realized that the two extensions Arrays[1] and Variables [2] will no longer be supported as of Mediawiki version 1.43 and are classified as deprecated. Would will happen with to the parserfunction #arraymap of PageForms[3]. Is this also deprecated with MW 1.43? I use these extensions in my SMW and wonder what the alternatives will be. Have there already been any thoughts on this? Dear SMW-devel subscribers, The SMW 5.0.0 will happen in about a week. Because this is a major release, it can contain breaking changes. Find more details in the Release Policy at https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticMediaWiki/blob/master/docs/RELEASE-POLICY.md This means that the window for breaking changes will close soon, as we do not expect to make a 6.0.0 release in the near future. So if you wish to contribute breaking changes, now is the time. Below are some related links: * In-progress 5.0.0 release notes: https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticMediaWiki/blob/master/docs/releasenotes/RELEASE-NOTES-5.0.0.md * Issues people tagged with 5.0.0. This is essentially a wishlist. The release will not wait for the completion of those issues: https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticMediaWiki/milestone/46 * Draft PR for the 5.0.0 release: https://github.com/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticMediaWiki/pull/6022 Best -- Jeroen De Dauw CEO Professional.Wiki | Developer & Architect | Creator Wikidata.org @JeroenDeDauw <https://twitter.com/JeroenDeDauw> | www.EntropyWins.wtf <https://EntropyWins.wtf> | www.Professional.Wiki <https://Professional.Wiki> Create your wiki in seconds via Pro.Wiki <https://www.Pro.Wiki>. hello, I would like to announce this extension https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:VisualData It is an alternative way to create and query datasets on your wiki and has the following features: -- is based on json-schemas (the industry standard for description of data) -- schemas can be created through a user-friendly interface and are used for validation of forms -- can automatically generate complex forms out of json schemas and includes a lot of fancy inputs, including MapTiler (for rendering maps) and TinyMCE -- inputs with auto-completion based on VisualData queries -- queries are performed using a SMW-like language through a parser function, or through an API -- offers several printout formats including datatables, datatables automatically use Ajax and the filter is case-insensitive (a limitation affecting SMW) -- can easily generate info-boxes with one-to-many relationships -- supports MW 1.35.3-1.42 The link above includes the official documentation and here https://wikisphere.org/wiki/Demo_VisualData you can find a lot of demos (which are currently used also as tests when releasing a new version) The extension is currently enough stable and full-featured and has been tested in production projects. If you want to contribute there is a lot to do mainly in relation to the schema processor & of course any contribution is welcome. Looking forward to your feedback and use-cases. (VisualData can coexist with SMW and PageForms/Cargo, so there is no need to choose among the 3) All the best (Thomas) |

Dear all, In PHP, when formatting a result row, is there a way to know the "owner" of a value returned by a chain printout (e.g., ResultArray), that is the title of the page, in which this chain value has been set? I.e., for ?relation1.property2 get the name of the target of relation1? Alexander Mashin |

Hello Michael, We ran the update script yesterday. It had to be completed via our deployment.yaml file, but upon viewing our logs it seems to have been successful. I inquired to our “hoster” about if we’re using CGI vs CLI, I read that could be an issue. Still waiting on a response. Other attempts including re-running the update script after commenting/uncommenting out various calls to the extension in the LocalSettings.php, which resulted in no change either. I also tried to run the update script via the webserver, which resulted in an error and could not be completed. However upon viewing our logs, this error is mentioned and resolved during the update from the deployment.yaml. I appreciate your help and any assistance you can provide.
