XML Parsing Error when registering a user

I've just installed SemanticScuttle 0.98.5. When I attempt to register a user, I get this error:

XML Parsing Error: syntax error Location: http://[domain]/register Line Number 2, Column 1:Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in [path]\semanticscuttle\src\SemanticScuttle\Service\User.php on line 746 ^

The user is created, but I get similar XML Parsing errors whenever I try to do anything.

Edit: I guess this isn't really a problem? It goes away when I turn off debug mode.
