Per Feb 4 joint meeting, I made * a web page that contains the list of RPI buildings and their aliases in plain text. http://map.rpi.edu/data/locations I'm making a script to have this list updated nightly * a specification document on RPI Map web service design http://tw.rpi.edu/wiki/RPI_Map_Web_Service#getImage Please let me know if you have other suggestions and comments. We will start the implementation of the web service once we agree upon the specification. -- Jie Bao http://www.cs.rpi.edu/~baojie |

Hi Jie, I have a special meeting tomorrow at 4 pm that I must attend. I will not have that commitment after next week, so I won't be affected for future RPI Map meetings on the first Wednesdays of future months. I'm going to ask if Brian Michalski could update me on what is discussed tomorrow. I'll be available later in the week to catch up. Thanks Brian. 5 seconds updating is certainly much better. I just googled a little and find there are a couple GPS tracking systems can do this. I hope our GPS vendor also supports it. An alternative for "realtime" position maybe using the route and shuttle speed information to predict the location of the bus before the next position report. We may show both the known position and predict of a bus, using different icons. I'm also thinking about using different icons for each shuttle, so the predicted bus locations can be distinguished.
