Semagic appears to log in, but then immediately closes. I receive no crash dump, as the system thinks it's finished loading, but it doesn't complete.

I can only suggest you to try version for windows 9x. Or reinstall windows. Or check for viruses. Often that is caused by some viruses that hook into IE. Semagic loads IE editing window so those viruses cause some interference.
