i have installed seeddms on my synology and have it configured and running.
Documents can be uploaded and organized.
I am now trying to set up the full text index to be able to search for document contents.
When i try to create the index via admin backend i get "No fulltext index available".
I installed "SeedDMS_Lucene-1.1.9.tgz" via PEAR and set up the "Directory for full text index" to /volume1/web/dms/data/lucene/.
The Directory and the files inside are fully writable (0x777 for testing).
Any idea what i might check?
Any hint on where to get any kind of debugging info?
I already enabled debug mode via settings.xml which does not give me any information why the index could not be created.
Thanks in advance!
Chris

I wonder why you installed SeedDMS_Lucene-1.1.9.tgz seperately. Didn't you use the quickstart archive? I also recommend to use sqlitefts for the fulltext engine, because it is faster and has less dependencies.

I followed to the letter the instructions for the installation published on https://www.synology-wiki.de/index.php/Seeddms . The only difference is that I installed SeedDMS (quickstart) v.6.0.19. The device I am using is Synology DS420+ running on DSM 7.1. According to the posts and advices I read I decided to keep with SQLLite. The only thing differing is that I did a translation to Serbian, but I do not think it should be a cause of an issue. None of PHP extensions or functions are missing, according to the info page in SeedDMS. PHP version is 7.4.28.
Anyway, after the install I discovered that the full text search index is not working. Also, I am having problems with the drop folder (but that is for a different topic).
On the matter of the full text search index, when I try to update it I get a bunch of errors. Still, the debug in the log file states that the conversion pdf-to-text was executed.
If I try to create a full text search index I get an error saying that the full text search index is not available. The error is also logged within a log file. Check the attached printscreens.
I logged in to the NAS via SSH and tested if the text extraction from the PDF files can be done from the CLI (pdftotext -enc UTF-8 -nopgbrk Faktura1.pdf test.txt) and it does the job just fine. I addopted the command line in SeedDMS to point to the exact location of the extractor (/opt/bin/pdftotext -enc UTF-8 -nopgbrk %s - | sed -e 's/ [a-zA-Z0-9.]{1} / /g' -e 's/[0-9.]//g') and still am getting the same issue.
Attached is my settings.xml file. Purhapse I did something wrong. Could you check it out and help me resolve this?
Tnx in advance. Cheers.
@UweSteinmann: as soon as I am done addopting the translation I will post it to you.
Within Synology's WebStation settings, I have sqlite3 and pdo_sqlite extensions installed. No other extensions avaliable are reffering to sqlite. Also, as I mentione the info page states no extensions are missing. The extensions should support sqlitefts.
It looks like this problem is dating after the version 6.0.15.
As for Zend Lucene, the very moment I switch to it all hell get loose:
Here is what I get:
Warning: require_once(/volume1/web/seeddms60x/data/lucene//Lucene.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /volume1/web/seeddms60x/www/inc/inc.FulltextInit.php on line 29 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/volume1/web/seeddms60x/data/lucene//Lucene.php' (include_path='/volume1/web/seeddms60x/www/../pear:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/www/:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/auth_sasl:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/console_getopt:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/db:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/log:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/mail:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/mail_mime:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/net_smtp:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/net_socket:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/pear-core-minimal/src:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/vendor/pear/pear_exception:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/pear/:/volume1/web/seeddms60x/www/pear:.:/usr/share/pear') in /volume1/web/seeddms60x/www/inc/inc.FulltextInit.php on line 29

I resolved the problem by switching over to MariaDB instead of sqlite.
It appears that iconv extension was missing in php. I suspect that was the issue all along with sqlite as well, but I have not tested that yet.
For now, I can confirm that the full text search works on Synology DSM.7
I hope this will help someone.
Tnx Uwe.

Great to hear, that it's working but I cannot quite believe your explanation. The fulltext index uses sqlitefts even when using mysql/mariadb. php-iconv is not needed. I definitely run systems without it.

Hi Uwe,
i installed the Lucene-Zip separately because i was desperate ;-)
Yes of course i used the quickstart archive in the first place.
I configured sqllite now and it works like charm.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

There should be a file
data/lucene/index.db. Does it exist? It is there, but its size is 0.
Check the image in the attachment.
Well, then it's not a permission problem. Does your php-sqlite extension support SqliteFTS? Does the fulltext search work if you switch to 'Lucene'?
Within Synology's WebStation settings, I have sqlite3 and pdo_sqlite extensions installed. No other extensions avaliable are reffering to sqlite. Also, as I mentione the info page states no extensions are missing. The extensions should support sqlitefts.
I just noticed that there is another open discussion on the same subject: https://sourceforge.net/p/seeddms/discussion/general/thread/e78507de56/

Do not set luceneClassDir in settings.xml
Even if you have sqlite support in php it could still be that sqlite itself misses sqlitefts support.
