By far most work on SDCC is unpaid. But sometimes university researchers worked on reference implementations of compiler construction research during their work hours.
However, there also have been some funded projects that explicitly included work on SDCC:
| Year | Source | Project | Developers | Topic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2017-2022 | DFG | [Graphstrukturtheorie im Übersetzerbau] | @spth | Applications of graph structure theory in compiler construction |
| 2022 | StandICT | Efficient and small C | @spth | Keep C suitable for small devices |
| 2022 | Prototype Fund | [SDCC-STD-UX] | @spth, @felixs, @roybaer | Improve standard compliance and usability of SDCC |
