To me a regression test suite is a set of tests that verify that things are how they should be, which in this case means testing to see if a set of C code compiles, runs, and produces the correct result. It's a regression test suite as opposed to a test suite as it is also there to make sure that things don't get worse. Whenever a bug is found and fixed a test is added to the suite to make sure the bug doesn't creep back in. It's quite useful for sdcc as a developer can make changes to the core, then run the regression tests to make sure that the changes haven't broken any of the ports. -- Michael |
