We do have a mechanism to emit assembler in syntax other than asxxxx for
the z80 ports. It is, however incompatible with the peephole optimizer,
and not that well-tested. An alternative would be to do a translation
from asxxx to gas syntax via an additional peephole rule file (AFAIR,
z88dk does something similar).
