looking at the .asm output (using sdcc -mpic16 varZero.c) I could not 
found any errors except for the fact that all access-bank-operands are 
incorrectly NOT suffixed with ", A" as in "CLRF _TRISA" instead of
"CLRF _TRISA, 0" (though 1 alias B is default...).

Tried with SDCC : pic16/pic14 2.5.0-pre1 #1018 (May  5 2005) (UNIX)

Vangelis: Can you confirm this? Is this a bug? Possible patch attached.

BTW: Shaun, could you post your SDCC version and command line options 
(if this patch does not help...)?
