iOS 5.1.1 (coz it's jailbroken iPad).
my current buildbot is 1.7.0git7563-gdc4b9b8
I've tried all 3 of the empty draft/spells on the pool and none of them work.
The empty draft version in my saved game was GEED.
I tried this with my Loom DOS floppy version (EGA) and it works fine. Did you try to load the savegame on your desktop and see whether it works there?
I tried with latest scummvm on windows but it says invalid saved game... Maybe It's 1.6.0 windows?
You will need a 1.7.0git build for Windows too. Just try the latest daily build.
To be precise: I tested this on Linux/amd64. Also, what happens when you try to empty the pool?
lordhoto: I checked, but my version of LOOM is EGA Floppy as well. Looking at the datafile list and md5sums attached by the bug submitter, the VGA version is very different. Do you know if any of the SCUMM developers have a copy of this and who has it?
Not sure who has Loom DOS CD. But Steam sells that one too. We don't support Steam's version out of the box right now, but it shouldn't be too hard to extract the missing file from the exe it work with ScummVM.
To be clear, from a quick look at engines/scumm/detection.cpp, this variant is loomcd with 6 datafiles: 000.LFL, 901-904.LFL, DISK01.LEC plus a CD audio track which in this case is compressed with FLAC compression as track1.fla.
Have just bought a copy of Loom CD for online seller. CD will be here in about 2 weeks, so can do further investigation then, if no other developer looks at it before.
I tested this on ScummVM for Windows latest GIT and yes, can't cast EMPTY on pool.
What happens when you try to cast that spell on the pool?
says "not using that draft right"..
compared to using the other versions of empty.. he says "guess that isn't a draft"
Are you sure you actually learned the draft before you left the island early in the game? I've attached two savegames, one where I didn't learn the draft and one where I did. In both, the draft is g d d e (can be verified in the debug console by using the "drafts" command). In the one where I didn't, the draft will not work and Bobbin will say "I don't think I spun that right." In the one where I did learn it, it will work as expected.
Emptying the lake is optional, so you should be fine anyway. If memory serves me, you can also make it through the game without ever learning Sleep and Sharpening, since the puzzles that use them (that I can remember) have alternative solutions.
Got copy of Loom CD earlier today. Using the latest Git master and the original submitter's savegame, I get "I don't think I spun that right"...
I checked as eriktorbjorn indicated with his two savegames and I think that this is the failing to learn the emptying draft before leaving the island early on...
andwan0: Can you please confirm from a new game start that you can replicate this problem? If not, I think this is NOT-A-BUG and should be noted in the non-bugs section of here and then closed:
I have set this pending. If no update is made within 14 days, it will automatically be closed.
I didn't notice the attached savegame until now. According to the "drafts" debug command, Bobbin doesn't know the Emptying draft, which is why he can't use it. (K is for "known", U is for "used".) Of course, the output from that command is a bit of guesswork (I should know, I wrote it :-), but it seems to be accurate.
Another possibility would be that a bug caused that flag to be cleared, but as far as I know we haven't had any of those bugs pop up for years, and even then it was mostly with the floppy version I think.
andwan0: Did you ever use the Emptying draft before in that game? If so, please attach the earlier savegame after learning the draft, but before the current savegame to be checked.
If not, I think we can assume that this was "pilot error" and we just add this to the SCUMM not-a-bug list for future reference...
Set as pending, awaiting update from original submitter.
Here's my complete saved games. I'll check whether I forgot to learn it
andwan0: Checked with all your savegames. None of them show you knowing the emptying draft according to the debug console "drafts" command.
I would suggest that you didn't learn it properly early on in the game?
As the bug submitter is unresponsive and this appears to be "pilot error" supported by the savegames, have added this as a non-bug to:
Closing as invalid.
