I am on Mac OSX; 10.4.11. This bug makes Pajama Sam 1 (English, Mac/Win 3.1/Win 95, CDROM) crash in ScummVM 0.11.1 and exists in the subversion builds without the crash.
To reproduce, take Otto the boat straight across the lake to the forest and go down the path once to arrive at the screen before the talking trees. In some cases (if it isn't the following outcome, restart the game), there is supposed to be a white sock to collect on the branch in the upper right corner. You can click it but you can't see it. (If there's a green sock there, it's not the same outcome. Restart.) When you click it in ScummVM 0.11.1, you are taken to the sock-sorting screen with no sock attached to the cursor, and clicking crashes the game. In all three Mac OSX snapshots, the sock is invisible on the branch but visible on the sock-sorting screen and can be placed normally. The game will continue.

I tried again and had the crash occur in all three snapshots. Cause still unknown.

Okay, I've confirmed that you just shouldn't try to collect this sock if your computer contains the bug. Not that you would probably find it if it was invisible. But it's definitely just a mistake; if the sock is there, there are either no matching socks or two other matching socks which would throw off the count.
(BTW, the game is totally completable if you don't collect all the socks.)

Raising priority. This bug is nice to get fixed before the release.

It is normal for the socks to be well hidden (invisible) in background of some scenes.
I can get an (invisible) white (with faint pink strips along the top) sock from the correct location, using the original HE80 version of Pajama Sam 1. But I'm unable to reproduce any crash under a Windows build.
A sock never seems to placed in that location, in the HE100 version of Pajama Sam 1 though.
Could you post md5 checksums of your data files? so we can be sure of no corrupt data files.

Sorry for sheer ignorance but which files are those?

I'm going to be gone from this computer for four weeks. I'll try to get the checksums when I'm back.

I finally managed to reproduce the bug in the original and in ScummVM, using the HE80 release of Pajama Sam 1. So the problem is definitely a bug in the HE80 release of Pajama Sam 1, but I'm not sure what exactly is causing the problem at this point.
