Now that I'm trying to actually use SCStudio, the main thing that ap- pears to be missing is actions. Is this because they aren't relevant to the existing race/cyclic/FIFO validation tests? I guess I can work around that by just drawing plain rectangles where desired. This is a bit tricky: the red-marked drawing is a new Visio drawing. Your original drawing remains untouched (but hidden behind). Just close the red-marked drawing, fix the violation and re-run the check. Regards, Petr |

Just my 0.02 $/Euros...I wouldn't worry about that too much. As long as at least one representation is available, the urgency of supporting alternate ones is pretty low IMO. > BTW, feature requests are also welcome. Understood; that's why I didn't want my specific issues taking too much of your time. But re the checking...I made an intentionally cyclic MSC, and the check- er finds the violation. But clicking the "show" link yields an error dialog titled "Sequence Chart Studio" with the message "Failed to open a MSC document template." and an <OK> button (this is better than 0.2.7, in which clicking on "show" crashed Visio). I installed to C:\ProgramFiles\SequenceChartStudio and my Visio file path settings are: - Templates "C:\ProgramFiles\SequenceChartStudio\stencils\Sequence Chart Studio" - Stencils "C:\ProgramFiles\SequenceChartStudio\stencils\Sequence Chart Studio" - Add-ons C:\ProgramFiles\SequenceChartStudio\bin Thanks, Tom -- /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | \ / | Email to user 'CTZ001' X Against HTML | at 'email.mot.com' / \ in e-mail & news | |

Hi Tom, No one ever tried to use it with Visio 2007, but it may work. Please check that you have: - installed the latest alpha version at http://www.fi.muni.cz/~xgottha1/scstudio - set Templates, Stencils and Add-On path as described in user instructions (the Add-on path you probably have already correctly configured) Does it still result in an error? Hi, The MSC standard allows you to specify parameters, conditions functions (none of this is implemented), but SDL is more suitable if you want to model how a single node reacts when receiving a value. Nevertheless, I have added your feature request to our "to do" list. Petr -----Original Message----- From: gl...@ma... I downloaded the Msc thesis but could not understand much about what is implemented and how. For example, how are conditions in the MSCs implemented? Concerning the example I have in mind, I would be interested in having a way to test that a message parameter is set and its value. Based on this, instance A could perform some actions. So, it is "to verify how the values "flow" through the system". But I am not sure if this is possible with MSC only or I should use SDL or UML. Hi! First of all, thank you for your interest in the add-on! There is a master thesis that describes capability of the current version. You may download it from http://is.muni.cz/th/72519/fi_m/thesis.pdf. First part of the thesis includes a nice introduction of the implemented MSC subset. When time permits I plan to extend the User Instructions document http://www.fi.muni.cz/~xgottha1/scstudio/UserInstructions.pdf to cover also tutorial on how to use the Visio interface. Besides these two documents there is currently no other tutorial. Concerning your intention: You should drag/drop two "Line Instance" and two "Message" shapes on the page. Then move the message line begin/end close to an instance line, so it gets glued. The only problem is that the current add-on version does not support parameters. (Of course, any missing functionality can be implemented.) Do you want just to display the parameter, or do you expect the algorithms to verify how the values "flow" through the system?
