ScreenCrest is a tiny, fast screen recorder built for weak, old and budget Windows machines. It records your full screen, a single window or a region, with system audio and microphone captured into one file, using a low-footprint software encoder that keeps CPU usage down and does not tank your frame rate on low-end hardware.
No watermark, no time limit, no account. Recordings are clean and as long as you need.
If OBS is too heavy for your machine and CamStudio has been abandoned, ScreenCrest is the small, maintained option in between.
The installer is about 4.6 MB. It runs on Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11, both 32-bit and 64-bit, and needs only .NET Framework 4.7.2, which modern Windows already has. It works on low-end CPUs and integrated graphics.
How to record: open ScreenCrest, pick a source, choose the audio you want, press the red Record button, press it again to stop. The video lands in your output folder.
