This bug affects me too.
I think it happens sometimes when I select text using Shift-Down. Not every time.
I'm using Screem 0.16.1 on ubuntu 8.10 x86-64 with all updates installed.
Just started getting random crashes as well using 0.16.01 and Ubuntu 8.10. Syslog message is......
