My OS is Win 8 Pro, I have Open Office 4.1.1, word Perfect for windows 12, (I also have Win7, and win xp NONE of which have Win Office) so I have nothing that will convert the Excel files that you have in the Character Generator into something that one or more of my software will use or for that matter can even open and read. I would prefer not to buy any more Microsoft products than I already have!
If the spread sheet could be translated in to any of the following databases then I have a software package that will be able to open and read it. Word Perfect, Word Star, Xywrite, .ODF, .ODS, open office .xml, microsoft excel for the following years only: 91/2000 xp .xls, 91/2000 xp .xlt, 91 .xls, 95 .xlt, 5.0 .xls, 5.0 .xlt, Sylk .slk, text CSV .csv, HTML open office calculation .html, MSOfficew2003 XML .xml, or last but not least Uniform office format .uos.
If there is any way this program can be converted from Miscrosoft excel into a more usable database it would be greatly appreciated.
Rspectfully requested

After quite a few hours of searching the internet and trying different software I discovered LibreOffice, an open license software package from http://www.libreoffice.org/ which opens your database! To use it you have to go into Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Security. Macro Security. and change the Macro Security level to Medium and then when you load the database, you have to select to use the macros. then you are good to go.
Thank you anyway, did not know until today that there was a free version of anything similar to Windows Office!!!
