Hi there,

I have annoying problems with versions 6.14 and 6.15. I am running Vista with Excel 2010 and I have 8 GIG RAM.

First, this worksheet has always been long to load/save for me. Painfully long, with Excel often "not responding" while doing either of those operations.

Second, since I upgraded to 6.15, I am not able to upload characters built with previous versions. Always crashing when loading. When I created one form scratch, it crashed when I tried to save it.

So I tried "downgrading" my way up: I had 6.09, so I installed 6.10, 6.11... all the way to 6.15 and loaded my characters one step up at a time: from 6.09 to 6.10, etc.

Useless to say it was long and painful, but it worked... until I tried to convert a 6.13 character with the 6.14 version, when it crashed again...

I'd really like to know if you've encountered this. But I also would like to know what are the "optimal" settings to run this worksheet. Is it always this long to load for everybody? Is my PC too weak???

Thanks!

One trick to speed up the loading process is to uses the conditional load button. Select only the sections you use, unchecking all the ones you do not. This will force the sheet to only load the parts you want, and just skip over the others.

The two sections that take the longest to load at Feats and Classes. I have a HORRIBLE netbook, with only 4 GB of ram. I use this option every time. If you DO NOT touch Excel once you has started it, and DO NOT touch your computer and just let it run, it will load. I've found that if you poke any your computer anytime Excel is working hard, not just with my sheet, Windows will think Excel has crashed. It is an annoying "feature" of Excel/Windows. But if you start it to run, and just leave it alone, things work out fine.

OK. In the next update I am adding some major work done to help make your life a little easier with the load/save. Also something I have found that helps A LOT with 2010/2013 save the sheet into XLSM format. Once we did this, it did not crash at all entire night.

    Hi Fred.

Is this still an issue with the new version? Or can this ticket be closed?

I've also found out that changing the sheet to .xlsb also helps out. File size is smaller, and loads a LOT faster. You really need Office 64 bit to avoid 90% of the issues.
