I saw the same problem on a recent RedHat Linux. I have no idea why, but commenting out the line \selectlanguage{english} in the english.sty file in the chess12 package (it is near the end of the file) made it work. (Just put a % at the start of the line to comment it out.) I'd like to have a simplified version of the chess12 package with the language stuff removed, but I don't know enough about modifying LaTeX packages to do this. > Another question: > Could I generate my tex files on Windows? > What software should I have? You can get TeX, LaTeX, dvi viewers/converters etc for Windows, so I'm sure it can be made to work. A web search should turn up the software you need. Cheers, Shane |
