It's possible to add CD content but you are right - updating these locations
may cause problems, as it was not designed to work with removable media. In
fact, SCAN treats all documents unacessible at the moment as non-existent and
deletes their records from repository automatically on location update. Thus,
updating will result in clearing the location content each time when the CD
is not mounted and adding all documents again (as 'new') when it's mounted
again. It greatly decreases performance and in general, I'd recommend to
avoid updating these locations at all. To exclude the location from
automatical update (if you use it), set 'Use a custom update interval' option
(on Settings tab of location properties box) and set it to 0. Do not use
manual "Update all" function unless the media is mounted. Do not clear the
cache.
