Search behavior

I just downloaded SCAN and the PDF plugin. After a little playing around, I don't understand the behavior of the seach function.

One of the documents I have indexed contains the word "antibiotic." SCAN created a tag "antibiot" (though that tag was not applied to the document). Searching on "antibiotic" does not find the document, but searching on "antibiot" does. Is this intended behavior?

This behavior does not appear to depend on whether stemming is checked.

Looks like a bug. The stemming was applied correctly on document indexing ("antibiot/ic"), but not to the search queries.

You can submit a bug (please attach a document where this behaviour appears, if possible).

As a workaround, try to set the language explicitly (English, I guess) in the Preferences (Tools → Configure) and avoid using language autodetect features (it also should speed up indexing of monolanguage collections).

Well, I think I get why it's happened. There is really a major bug in stemming of the search queries, thanks for finding it.

I'll submit it to the tracker myself and start to find the solution to fix it ASAP for the next release.

So far, do not set the language to "Mixed" in the preferences, set it to your primary language, it should work.

Thank you. That seems to get around it.
