I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. The latest installer for v2.10 does not seem to start at all. I cannot get it to work even with --mode option. Please advise.
Could you please provide more information? I have just tried myself on Ubuntu 14.04 (64bit). And the installer worked just fine using the following steps:
Thank you for the fast response. This installer worked. The problem was that in folder "final" there was no linux installer and so went for the big green button.
But now I have a different problem.
I tried to use the sbw_networkviewer as you suggested and I only got the following:
"The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded.
It should have been installed in the `/usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll' directory."
I am using mono 3.2.8 as this is the version that comes from apt-get. So there is no such file/folder. In fact ls /usr/lib/mono -> 4.0 4.5 gac. I am guessing these are the versions of .NET mono 3.2.8 supports. I have no idea how to add .NET 2.0 safely.
Also, I am trying to use CellDesigner with SBW, but when I go to "Register with SBW", nothing happens, and for everything else in the SBW menu I get a java exception. I have Oracle Java 8 installed. I don't know if that makes any difference.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Konstantin
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
When I look into /usr/lib/mono I find .net target profiles for 2.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5. I'll attach the list of mono packages installed in my ubuntu (not all of them will be necessary i'm sure).
As to CellDesigner, i will try that tomorrow and let you know what i find.
this time the simulation tool works just fine on the latest Ubuntu. The new version also includes a workaround for CellDesigner, so it will start once registered.
Please let me know what you find,
sorry for the delay,
All the best

making the installer executable with:
chmod +x sbw-2.10.0-linux-x64-installer.run
executing the installer with:
./sbw-2.10.0-linux-x64-installer.run
next I've opened a new terminal, and ran
sbw_networkviewerand opened one of the SBML files distributed in~/SBML Models. All that worked fine for me.If you have any more information, please let me know.

Hello again,
I play with it a bit and made it work most of the time. I manually installed mono-complete and now most of the components work.
So here's the situation in CellDesigner:
Thank you.

sorry for the delay ... I could reproduce the issue you described:

Hello Konstantin,
I've uploaded a new version of the SBW X64 Linux installer here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sbw/files/sbw/2.11.0/
this time the simulation tool works just fine on the latest Ubuntu. The new version also includes a workaround for CellDesigner, so it will start once registered.
Please let me know what you find,
sorry for the delay,
All the best
