I realise that the issue of Unit of Information identity has not really been discussed. In the spec the unit of information is treated as having instance identity (like process) which means that 2 UofI with the same content can be held by the same glyph. For example 2 identical cardinality labels or 2 UofIs with the same domain name could be displayed on the same EPN. We should clarify this.

I am not certain I understand what you mean by "having instance identity (like process)". But I agree that having 2 UofI with the same content is a problem. IMHO, this mirrors the phenotype issue. One should not have 2 UofI with the same content on the same glyph.

Re: cardinality, I realise that this should not be a UofI in the first place. Units of information are a kind of controlled annotation. Their content does not affect the syntax of the map, only the biological semantics. This is clearly not the case of cardinality. This is a non-binary state variable. The labels should be 4@N etc.

Should-I open another tracker item, or am-I completely nut?
