There is a macro DEF-TYPE-PREDICATE-WRAPPER that basically does
(defun EXTENDED-CHAR-P (object)
  "nice doc string"
  (EXTENDED-CHAR-P object))

Which is nice if the compiler recognises the predicate... not so nice otherwise.
