I designed the rest of the web site, and I took the colors from the download table because it's probably the most recognizable visual element on the site, and because anyone following a link to the SBCL web site is probably going to want to download it. (We hope.) It wasn't my intention to create a logo. I haven't really got an artistic bone in my body. If anyone wants to provide something better, go for it.
