I guess I was just confused because the 0.8.16 release/snapshot did have :sb-threads. The first couple google results for "sbcl" are for www.sbcl.org, which looks like a copy of sbcl.sourceforge.net. I guess my note should have gone to Kevin Rosenberg, who seems to own sbcl.org.
