To Whom It May Concern:
I am an angry American. I have watched the repeated images of the World Trade =
Center crashing to the ground; I have sat watching the news every night as =
some Islamic extremist spouts off about the evils of America. I have watched =
as our troops deploy overseas to protect those rights we hold dear.
Yesterday, I watched the news as I have every night I can remember and I was =
disgusted with what I saw. No it wasn=92t a terrorist chanting against =
America, it wasn=92t another story on corporations taking advantage of =
employees, it was even more disturbing to me.
It seems as though ABC has taken the Constitution of the United States on. =
Incredibly Peter Jennings (CANADIAN Drop-out) and ABC appear to believe that =
while the freedom of the press is non -negotiable, freedom of speech for =
honest Americans is. ABC decided to pull Toby Keith from the 4th of July =
(AMERICAN Holiday) special due to =93controversial=94 lyrics in the song =93=
Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue=94. I have news for you, the lyrics are =
no more controversial than the daily dialog of General Hospital, an ABC soap =
opera.
Toby Keith is singing from the heart, he is letting the world know what he =
and other Americans think. I for one believe he hit the nail on the head with =
this song. Who are we afraid of offending? The terrorists, some =
hypersensitive overly politically correct pansy that thinks that the =
terrorists have learned their lesson so lets just leave them alone. The =
freedom of speech is a right that I for one hold above all.
I cannot believe the narrow-minded attitude of ABC and Peter Jennings. If =
Peter Jennings doesn=92t like the attitude or controversy surrounding the =
patriotism, he has the freedom to return to Canada and become the leading =
Canadian Broadcaster.
I have to ask myself, is ABC merely trying to cause some controversy of its =
own. Is ABC trying to appeal to that minority that thinks the United States =
is wrong to be so angry?
So yes, you could say I am an angry American.
Sincerely,
Bryce E Bouwens
One Angry American
