#44 failed checkout creates entry in .user.cfg

create_repo() always returns 1. this means that if your
checkout fails, you get an entry in .user.cfg anyway.

you can remove the checkout from the repo_menu, so
you're not stuck, but it really shouldn't happen.

someone noticed, it is really confusing.. might as well put
it on the radar for 1.0.

this isn't really create_repo()'s fault, it's the
"update_repo" thing it does later.. i'd rather just wait on
this, because it's pretty obvious that the checkout fails,
and you can either delete the empty checkout dir, or change
your settings and update/checkout again.
