I can see a preview of .psd file when I make a right click or select large icons but Preview Pane is empty.
The second problem (refer to all Photo Viewers). Sometimes I see following message - "This layered Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image". If I open this file in Paint.NET or GIMP and re-save it I can see a preview

You must save .psd with embedded thumbnails i.e. with "thumbnail", "composite image" or "maximize compatibility" etc. option enabled (its named different in different Photoshop versions).
