I'm also thinking about creating something mud/roguelike - using dnd rules. I'm currently looking at sagaj, but for me _basic_ stuff is multiplayer - I'm looking at it more as mud with graphical output then roguelike. Unfortunately it requires quite different design decisions - especially concerning object representation of control of characters.
Anyway, I don't suppose I will ever get over experiment phase (looking realistically), so it might turn out that I'll end up contributing stuff to sagaj. On thing for sure is that I'll post links to any tiles/icons I'll create. There can be small difference with size - I'm also going to use 32x32 pixels, but with characters/monsters fitting in 32x32 _circle_, not square. But mostly it should be ok and for rest stuff there will be no difference.

That sounds really good abies. Feel free of use any of our code if you make yours an Open Source Project.
There are several hundred monster tiles in David's tile set, drawn real pretty too, which I feel he would allow you to adapt to your game if you ask him.
What we could really use are icons for some simple things (herbs for example, marion did the fish icons we used) and normal animals (cats, cows, rabbits and so on). So please be sure to post links to any Open Source Graphics you draw:)
And all contributions are most welcome of course.
(sorry if this appears twice, I cannot get it to post without changing the subject and content as it says that post is there already, but the post does not show for me)

Are there any plans to support multiplayer at any point ?
Yes, click on vision from the sagaj homepage (it goes to http://sagaj.sourceforge.net/Vision.html\)
