Hi Simone, --exclude expects the directory path *minus* your base directory, for instance in your example excluding /home/user/Desktop/not_needed while syncing /home/user/ is done with --exclude Desktop/not_needed Run it with --verbose --dry-run to check how the exclusion rules are applied before actually transferring any files.
