#152 Lots of failures & retries on "sync" with python 2.4 - ok with python2.6

Hi,

I'm getting tons of "WARNING: Retrying failed request" on syncs under python 2.4 (on RHEL5). Each transfer fails the first time but then works on the second attempt. It's happening on every single file.

Another machine with python 2.6 (RHEL6) gets the error occasionally but not very often.

It might be some edge cases that are causing it on 2.6. For instance, I had two duplicate files, and a zero-byte file and I'd get the error on one of them. These three files happened to sort first in the listing. Or this might be a red herring...

We have excellent connectivity (large US university) and the servers are not heavily loaded.

The end result seems OK - the files do appear to have been transferred.
