I created experimental rpm packages for rhel-6, rhel-7 and fedora.
I created it because I had an rhel-6 user that did want it; I
am by no means expert on it, and would like any comments about it.
After creating the appropriate systemd and sysv initscripts
(loosely based on nfs ones) and having they apparently fully
functional, my test case was textmeter, and it appears to work
correctly.
The source rpms are at:
https://pcpa.fedorapeople.org/rstatd-4.0.1-2.fc22.src.rpm
https://pcpa.fedorapeople.org/textmeter-1.0-1.el7.src.rpm
I did a quick and ugly hack to support kernel 3.6 (just changed
defaults to kernel 2.6, instead of the "never call me" functions).
Ignore this. There are already the packages rusers and rusers-server that package rstatd.
There is no textmeter package as far as I could check.
