rssowl is 32bit so you need 32bit java. maybe you want to try my fork of rssowl instead (has 64bit version too). it should work with at least java 12.

x86 is the 32bit version and x64 is the 64bit version. are you using the x86 one with rssowl? it is generally not recommended to use rssowl anymore as its browser has many security holes. try rssowlnix (my fork) instead https://github.com/Xyrio/RSSOwlnix/releases

      Hello Xyrio,

I am facing similar issue and I have JRE 64 bit on my Windows 10 PC which I can't change to 32 bit as some other applications are relying on it. I want to give a try to your version of RSSOwl but I didn't find an EXE file in the ur: https://github.com/Xyrio/RSSOwlnix/releases that you have shared. I am not a coder so it will not be possible for me to create executable file from there. Can you please share the executable file of the tool... Thanks!

just use rssowlnix then. since you have java 64bit you just download rssowlnix x86_64. it works with java8+ so no problem there. after moving the rssowl database over (see release page or https://github.com/Xyrio/RSSOwlnix/issues/89 ) it should work. btw you can also put the jre or jdk into a folder inside the rssowlnix folder so this path exists: RSSOwlnix\jre\bin\java.exe. same works btw for rssowl too using a jre 32bit.

Thanks for your reply but I wasn't able to make it work. Can you please explain in steps and update README so that novice like me be able to use it. All I tried to far is:
          1. I have downloaded RSSOwlnix from here: https://github.com/Xyrio/RSSOwlnix
          2. Added jre in the folder 2. Added jre in the folder RSSOwlnix and now it looks like RSSOwlnix\jre\bin\java.exe but now problem is how to start the application.
          3. I tried moving original RSS Owl file to RSSOwlnix folder, renamed RSSOwl.exe to RSSOwlnix.exe and starting again but it is still throwing error https://prnt.sc/t40b48 This is how my RSSOwlnix folder looks: https://prnt.sc/t40c2z

          Please help!

as written you can look here for more details: github.com/Xyrio/RSSOwlnix/issues/89
you dont have to use the jre folder if the java in your environment fits. you of course will use the new RSSOwlnix.exe not the old RSSowl.exe... yo copy stuff over from the .rssowl to .rssowlnix-beta folder. see link.

i think i've used the right version. As you have said about security holes, i will not use it anymore but i'll try your fork. Thank you for the advice!
