Hi Chris Always good if someone probes new approaches: > From: "Chris Dennis" <cgd...@bt...> > Sent: Aug 16, 2011 7:03:14 PM > Subject: Brandysnap - an new rsync-based snapshot script > ... > ... Perl script that runs rsync and manages snapshots > according to the desired specification. When runs are missed, it makes > allowances by adjusting which snapshots are kept. But as we talk about backup here, some might be a bit more conservative. To achieve above feature, I supplied a simple patch to rsnapshot. It just prepends all proper rotation runs to the actual snapshot run - if they expired: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=27739440 The most conservative stick with Rolf Muth's do-rsnapshot wrapper :) Or get their crontab right and run it 24x7 :( Which config notation is better, I'm not sure: 4d5 versus interval quarterdaily 20 ? Understanding the latter seems to be *the* FAQ of rsnapshot, but once the interaction with crontab is out of the way, maybe it is ok?
