Instead, it gets the setting from the XSettings manager. If you were running ROX-Session, that would be it, and it would in turn get the setting from Choices/ROX-Session/Options. If you're running GNOME's XSettings manager, I guess it gets the key from gconf, and makes it available as an XSetting.
