Hello everyone. A bit off-topic, but possibly of interest to others besides myself: I was just wondering what samplers people are using with Rosegarden, and if anyone knows of a possible-to-compile free sampler that can play wav and aiff files. If not, does anyone know of a non-proprietary way of converting wav or aiff samples to gig or akai format so that they can be used with Linuxsampler? And if not, does anyone know where one might find some free samples of musical instruments in Linuxsampler-friendly formats? (Apart from scattered across the internet with no preview options, of course...:-)) I seem to remember coming across one site that listed a large number of such samples sorted by instrument once upon a time, but for some unforgivable reason I didn't bookmark it and now I can't seem to find it again. I've been using QSynth so far, but the soundfont age seems to be a thing of the past, and besides, I would really love to be able to use these presumably unbelievably nice samples from the university of Iowa: http://theremin.music.uiowa.edu/MIS.html I'm using 64Studio, and my poor husband/computer slave was kind enough to spend several hours today trying to compile Chionic and Specimen, but with no luck, due to dependency problems and some weird error messages, respectively. Any tips in this regard would be greatly appreciated and rewarded - hopefully - with some finished songs from my hand. Someday. Maybe. Keep up the good work, everyone! Gunhild. |
