#18 rivatv 8.3.0 on ELSA Erazor I PCI freezes machine

With version 8.3.0, modprobe rivatv finally loads (without
requiring agpgart) on a PCI-only machine with an ELSA Erazor I.

However, the machine freezes within seconds after first
accessing the driver, both with xawtv under X11 (tried KDE as
well as fvwm2) and in console mode when invoking ffmpeg as
suggested in the FAQ.

Has anyone had more success with this card, or suggestions on
how to obtain some helpful debug information in the last few
seconds before the machine dies?

    You could tell your syslog to forward messages to another
    computer's syslog. Thus you could get last messages...
